"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
~Anais Nin (1903-1977)
this quote speaks volumes to me this evening. what to we have to lose if we take the risk? there are bigger risks than others and what we hold as value in those risk depends on our own perspective of course. but we face risks every day. many we never think of consciously. the ones that weigh heavy on our minds are the 'bigger' risks. should i quit my job? should i try to do my business full time? if i do this, how will it impact the kids? some of the answers come easier than others, but i know for a long time i have shied away from the risks and played things safely. and to me, that's not really living life to it's potential.

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. ~Frederick Keonig
I would like to start keeping a gratitude journal of sorts and am thinking of writing a few things that I'm grateful or happy for at least once a week. Perhaps Gratitude Tuesday?
Since I missed yesterday....here's this week.
*I am grateful for a husband that loves me unconditionally and completely.
*I am happy that the sun is shining today.
*I am happy to be here at 34 years of age, and grateful for a wonderful birthday last week.
*I do have to say I'm grateful for swear words. Oh, how do I heart me some F-bombs. ;-)
*I am grateful for wonderful friends. Individuals who are always there no matter what, never judging, be there at the drop of a hat when you need them. You ladies know who you are. Love you!

Family Quote
Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible - the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.

First quote for 2009
"The irony of commitment is that it's deeply liberating - in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life."

It Spoke to Me
"No matter how dark the moment, love and hope are always possible." ~ George Chakiris
This quote spoke to me last week. I received it in a newsletter I get and it's stuck with me. It can be applied to so many things and I thought I'd pass it along.

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us."
