Household Duties

How are they divided in your home? Do you and your partner do an equal share? Do you both attack whatever needs to be cleaned or taken care of? Do you each have your own list of who does what?

Oh, it's about 75/25 around here - guess who's got the 75? He'll pitch in only when he can't stand the mess anymore. Then he goes on a spree. I figure if I hold out long enough, I won't have to the wash the floor, vacuum, dust or clean the tub/shower. I do all the rest on almost a daily basis, so I wait him out on the big stuff. ;-) Yup, passive-aggressive household division of labor is what works around here.

I pretty much do everything except take out the trash. If I ask him to help he will ruin my entire day so I just don't ask anymore unless I'm deseparte.

Boy, it depends on the day. When he does help, it's almost more of a hassle. He does the laundry and things get ruined, or he throws things into drawers that they dont' belong in. And then he wonders why I have to pull everything out and reorganize the dresser - making a mess along the way. I swear, if I have to organize my plastic food saver dishes again, I'm gonna scream! Thanks for doing the dishes honey, but it'll take me twice as long to find things. Oh, and my favorite is when he tidy's up. He shoves stuff into cabinets and drawers and then I spend two hours in the monring, while running late, ripping stuff out of cabinets looking for that one things I really needed. And then the house is a mess again. He is in charge of the trash and picking up after the dogs...and it's hard to mess that up.

you know how I am...I don't think a man having a penis is a "get out of work free" card. It's pretty darn equal in my house, BUT it took time, patience and vigilence on my part to get it that way. Women can be firefighters and mow the yard, and men can do housework. Period.
I am also raising the boys to see this equality in duties, which I think is HUGE for their mentality of men/women equality is all aspects of life. I think it's sad when women don't demand equality in the house because the man has a dick...I don't give a shit. He can fold clothes & use a duster too.

I make a list of what needs to be done and do 90% of it, then I ask Kelly to help with a few things. Then I ask him again becuase he forgot the first time. And then I barter with sex.

but he cooks better than me, so ya know. it all works out.
